Thank you so much for this. The War of Art was recommended by my therapist and I found it to be a great book. However, I also want to address how I might have been a little too gung-ho in trying to conquer my resistance.

As a competitor, I can't always relate to the artist's approach. I must be territorial and hierarchical since, in esports, we earn our winnings based on rank in tournaments.

Also, I tried hard to register for an event, several states away, which I ended up being unable to afford and the entry fee was non-refundable.

I feel much of my internal resistance, and my gung-ho response to beating it, stems from a great deal of self-loathing. The thought of making excuses to avoid doing things pushes me to the opposite spectrum and becoming a bit too lofty in my approach.

I feel after we understand internal resistance better by reading books and blogs such as this, the best things we can do for ourselves is find that medium. Understand when that resistance sets in and realize what we want to do and why that resistance is there. But logically, understand not to set your goals too lofty while prioritizing it over real life and finances.
