Five popular series not represented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has given rise to perhaps the single biggest Hall of Fame library in existence. Whereas past games included exclusively Nintendo franchises, Super Smash Bros. Brawl onwards allowed third-party characters, like Sonic and Snake, to enter the fray. Between Melee and Smash 4, each Smash title also had various Trophies detailing bits of lore with 3D models of characters, stages, items, and more.

However, with the Smash ULtimate DLC coming to an end, this will be the last chance to see a new face enter Smash Bros. Ultimate. While Spirit Events continue to represent beloved franchises, such as Octopath, Mana, and Bravely, we may not get a stacked level of representation from another franchise as we do with new character choices.

Note that this list avoids titles that have been represented via Spirits, Music, Assist Trophies, and Mii Costumes. For instance, Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default II, Resident Evil, and Trials of Mana all received Spirit Events. As such, they won’t be included here.

Ys
Falcom’s primary Action/RPG series debuted in the late 80s. The Ys series follows the exploits of adventurer, Adol Christin, who adventures across the world and ends up battling divine and demonic beings often in a bid just to safely return home.

Ys became known for its legendary soundtracks. The hack-and-slash action feels reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda series but moves at a faster pace along with the ability to jump. As such, it’s largely a dungeon crawler series with elements of platforming and tons of exploration.
