Eternal Sonata: The Japanese RPG Classic We Fondly Remember 15 Years Later.

When Bandai Namco published Eternal Sonata in 2007, the title initially came to Xbox 360. Telling the tale of Polish composer Frederic Francois Chopin’s last dream before his death, he embarks on an adventure in a new world. Embracing a new life and meeting new people, their story became one of classic JRPG fanfare; liberating the people of Forte from a mad despot trying to kill them.

The story revolves largely around trying to stop Count Waltz of Forte. He distributes Mineral Powder to his subjects which causes them to develop magic. They end up dying as a result.

While Eternal Sonata would come to PS3 with new features and an expanded storyline, its release was among the most heralded JRPGs in the generation. Developed by tri-Crescendo, the title’s lineage follows the Baten Kaitos series from the Nintendo GameCube. Published by Bandai Namco, it was released prior to the critically acclaimed JRPG, Tales of Vesperia.

Eternal Sonata’s few passing references since its release include costumes exclusive to the PS3 and Definitive Editions of tales of Vesperia.
